Charlotte Regan is counting down the weeks and days until Florida kicks off its mark-down program for the purchase of energy-efficient appliances.
Regan, a Jacksonville resident, intends to return her aging freezer with an Energy Star-rated freezer.
To encourage consumers to opt for Energy Inimitable appliances, the state will provide mail-in rebates equal to 20 percent of the price on products bought between April 16 and 25. The program will dissemble gas tankless water heaters, clothes washers, refrigerators, dishwashers, room air conditioners and freezers certified as Dynamism Star by the federal government.
"I'm ready for it," Regan said. "I wish I could do it right now, but it's not retroactive."
For Georgia residents, the delay is already over. Georgia started its rebate program on Feb. 12 for the following Energy Star products: air begetter heat pumps, boilers, central air conditioners, clothes washers, dishwashers, freezers, furnaces, refrigerators, elbow-room air conditioners, and water heaters fueled by gas, electricity or solar power.
