Restored Academy of Music Ballroom Comes to Life PlaybillArts
**Put on your dancing shoes, and let the dinner party begin. The Grand Old Lady of Locust Street has a glittering new party and reception venue to show off in its magnificently restored Ballroom. The notable Academy of Music has had many significant periods of construction or renovation since its opening in January 1857, but none have been more transformative than the handsome restoration of the Ballroom.
At its opening in 1857, the Ballroom was described as the most beautiful room in all of Philadelphia, and was the ranking reception space for the city. Said John Trosino, senior associate at Philadelphias KlingStubbins architecture and engineering public limited company, which was responsible for the current restoration, The historic importance of the room, and that legacy, guided every design decidedness we made, in the hopes of recreating those same sentiments today. The Ballroom is the latest in a series of renovations to the Academy, which have included the considerable, 13-month restoration of the Academys magnificent chandelier, and other lighting and interior restorations in the auditorium.
Why are chandelier shades so expensive?
I ruminating it would be like slipcovering a couch - a way to change the look and dress it up without having to buy a new one. .....but I could buy a new chadelier for the expenditure of the freaking things, what's up with that?!?!
I paid $3.49 for mine at the Big Lots. One set came with embellishments, but I added my own on a moorland set. I hot glued gimp around the top and bottoms for added interest. I've also seen them inexpensively at Ross, Marshalls, TJ MAxx, Burlington Covering Factory, Tuesday Morning and JoAnne Etc. Most are in the 3-5 dollar range and they do have decent selections.

Can you put shades on a chandelier if the existing glass shades...?
....aspect upwards, instead of the usual downwards?
We have a chandelier in our home which has glass shades/bowls and I want to make it a mini contemporary by putting shades. I can't sit the shades directly on the convex shaped bulbs, can I?
I don't discern if you can switch them out without seeing the chandelier however, the shades that are sold for these pieces have clamps that are meant to fit on the bulbs.
Can anyone tell me where to find a 6 piece lighting chandelier without any shades?
I bankrupt it by mistake...not my fault I'm tall. And I need to find a new one before my mom freaks. It needs to be glass. No shades at all. Somewhere local, like about depot or something. Anywhere I can look up and go to the nearest store without ordering online. A picture of it and where to find it would be great. I would soo love you!!! I demand it as soon as possible. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Work with me. My dining room is red.
I would try Lowe's. If things go well you have one nearby. They seem to offer a very wide variety of lighting products, and I know I have seen chandeliers there before.
