Fire warning on extension leads from Old Kent Road 99p shop London SE1
An Astra Slimline 13-amp 4-way span lead has been investigated by the London Fire Brigade after a fire at a flat on the Old Kent Road on 10 January.
The precede was being used with an electric heater when the cable overheated and caused a small fire. Luckily the residents heard the rope 'explode' and a more serious fire was averted.
The fire brigade investigation concluded there were numerous defects including no earth guardianship whatsoever, no fuse in the plug, inadequate and poorly insulated cable and inadequate plug construction.
The pass was bought from 99p Plus Zone at 361 Old Kent Road . The shop voluntarily withdrew the unused stock which has been seized by Southwark Trading Standards officers.
It is believed that the goods were imported unswervingly from China to the store which has also instigated a recall. They were being sold for 2.99.
A second type of lead sold in the same shop has also been condemned as unsafe because the live and neutral wiring is reversed. Not only could this damage appliances plugged into it and rephrase them live when they appear to be off, it could also cause a fire.
What will happen if I use a 5 amp tube fuse instead of a recommended 1 amp fuse?

If you use a higher rated amp fuse I intend it could catch on fire . Each wire size is only able to carry a given amount of amps. The bigger the wire the more amps and the smaller the wire weight number. #14 wire =15amp fuse #12wire=20amp fuse #10wire=30amp fuse #8 wire=40amp fuse. The fuse acts as safeness feacher incase the amps are exceeded. The fuse blowes before the isulations on the wire meltes and causes a thin on the ground before .
halt with the recomended fuse size. sounds like the solinoid valve went bad. the valve will have two wires prevalent to it disconnect the wires and use a conductivity meter from wire to wire. if you have conductivity the valve is good. if not renew the valve.

Where can i get a 2-1/2 amp fuse & 12 volt battery for a "rule" 24 bilge pump?
I have a "Usually" 24 BILGE PUMP its asking for a 12 volt battery and a 2-1/2 amp fuse...this fuse is suppose to hook to the brown wire somewhere between the pump and the battery. I just cant seem to find this anywhere unless im looking in the wrong places. There are so many bizarre fuses out here and i just want to know where to get the right one for this pump, a picture of the fuse (if possible), and the same for the 12volt battery if credible....but my main focus is the fuse, but if you have info on both that would be a blessing! Please serious people only, i need to get this taken care of ASAP. I was told this was sizeable to use to drain out the rest of the water from my pool.Thanks to all in advance!
