stock meter for industrial maintenance
Acclimated to this meter for years in industrial maintenance, no complaints. If you have the need to switch between AC & DC volts (say checking for AC riffle on a DC power supply output), then this meter is not for you. But for what it was designed for, I give it 5 stars. Accurate, good battery life-force, and most important, durable.
Excellent for my needs
Talk about na to use! This thing is stupid proof. I absolutely love it. You can always count on Fluke to produce a real quaility tester....and they play-act something for every person's needs.

Pre-eminent Toolbag Meter
I have had one of these in my industry toolbag (very rough usage) for many, many years now. This thing is a workhorse of a multimeter. I test everything from 6v DC to 460v 3-appearance with no problem. It always gives a quick reading. This thing is even idiot-proof, as you don't need to select AC or DC around. I've used this feature then in a remote area, checking power (Am I getting 12v AC or DC??).
One con I can think of, is the spread of the amp common jaws. I have come up with wires that just won't fit. This won't happen in most applications, though. I have to say that this is one rock-solid meter, and it has made my job easier. It has fond of leads, which I really have grown to like. You just clip them to the back of the meter, wrap the wires lengthwise around the meter & tackle it back into the toolbag.
I have even purchased another one for my tool chest at home, and seem to pull it out more often than my other meters, a Fluke 179 and a Simpson 260. It's good an easy meter to use, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Extech Teams Up with ElectricalManuals.net to Grow Online Peer-to-Peer Manuals ... PR Web (press release)
22.01.10
ElectricalManuals.net was founded by electrical polished Jonathan Hulsman: “ElectricalManuals.net was launched in response to a need by electricians and plant technicians who needed access to manuals for electrical appurtenances, especially older equipment. With thousands of members, the response has been terrific. We’re pleased to travail with Extech Instruments to offer this versatile clamp meter as an incentive to grow the site with more purchaser manuals.”
The website, http://www.electricalmanuals.net , aggregates manuals for diverse electrical components including: involuntary transfer switches, batteries, control devices, drives, fuses, generators, low/medium/cheerful voltage equipment, PLCs, power monitors, power quality, protective relays, exam equipment, training, transformers, and UPSs.
The site’s historical company name directory also helps technicians by irritated-referencing retired brand names of older components with current companies that may have since acquired those brands. A owner forum helps users discuss challenges or questions and a media section provides gripping video and images of electrical-related topics.

If you have a Lowes or Welcoming comfortable with Depot near you, go and ask them the same question. If it is for your outlets, they make a nifty little device that shows at most what you are asking for.

Electrical testers look like screwdrivers but have no instructions/precautions. How are they used safely?
Apr 04, 2007 by PF | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Some types have pictures showing a influence being used to complete the circuit e,g, when testing fuses.
But how can you test whether there is a current going through a live socket with by a hair's breadth a single screwdriver-shaped tester & how is the result shown if it doesn't have an LED or digital present?
Sounds like you have a "sniffer tester". Im an electrician and I will never depend my lifetime on one of those cheapies. If this is the tester you touch up to a insulated wire and it lights up and beeps, then this will never be a safe tester.
Always business something as if it were hot!!!
one way to get instructions for that tester is to look for the brand then google in online.
Be Safe!

Electrical outlet tester, what does it mean when all three lights are lit? the red and yellow (orange)?
Jul 15, 2007 by John F | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a pigtail in electrical tester that indicates correct wiring, when plugged into most outlets the left two yellow lights are lit, however I have this one bullet outlet for a 20 amp circuit for an airconditioner, when I plug it in all three lights are lit
I about you are plugging into a 220v outlet. You should never get all three lights on those plug in outlet testers lit up at the same time. Hot and neutral reverse should lissome up the red on the left and the middle yellow. I think you are measuring two 'hots' which is why all the lights are on. You say it is a draw outlet, does it look like a normal outlet except on of the vertical slits also has a small corresponding slit off the side? That is probably 220v to run that AC.
