Customer Reviews
Does the job
If not using banana plugs, the mishandle binding posts have a bit of a cheap feel to them, as the nuts are thin and the knurling is hard on the fingers. However, they look commendable and the banana plugs work great.

A matchless option
These are nicely constructed and profession great. A few relevant pieces of info.
1. The connection on the back does not require a banana plug. The keynoter wire screws in directly.
2. The banana plug is not even required on the front. You can in fact unscrew and feed in the wire straight away. (Though I personally chose to use the plugs).
Definitely as good if not better quality than any of the comparable items from Qualified in Depot/Radio Shack/Lowes.

adequate solid wall jack, nice build quality
got these, and installed in my walls. huge stuff. got the matching GLS bananaplugs for my speaker wires too, highly recommended. great price, and gracious quality. the alternative was $18 wallplates from home depot or radio shack (no way what a ripoff). and these are reasonable as nice or better. very recommended.

The well-built news is that it can be a mind-bending exercise to hook it all together. Look at the diagram on page 35 and you’ll see very recently how complex a fully networked system can get. Some of your home theater equipment can natively tap into a Wi-Fi network, but most modern AV utensils is strictly an Ethernet plug-in proposition. So to make all of your computer gear cooperate with your home theater, you exigency to explore the tools (wireless bridges, power-line networking or long throws of Cat 5e cable) that agree to these devices to shake hands.
The good news here is that patching AV gear into a computer network opens up a whole new set of options in terms of contentedness. Pictures and audio and video files can be accessed from computers or networked drives in any room in the house and viewed on your TV, and online size can be streamed directly to your living room using a more TV-friendly interface.

Suggestions for multi-connector HDTV wall plates?
Oct 25, 2006 by Chris | Posted in Home Theater
I'm succeeding to be mounting my new plasma HDTV on the wall and would like to find a good, multi-connector wall plate that I can put on either end of the wall for connecting the components to the TV. In a perfect world the wall plate(s) would have 2 HDMI jacks, an S-video jack, component video jacks, left/exact audio jacks, an ethernet jack, and a cable jack.
Has anybody found such wall plates, or what would you recommend instead for connecting the heterogeneous cables through the wall?
Thanks!
If you would like a layer custom make for that application please email me. Everything you describe is doable except maybe the HDMI, you should not be pluggin that type of wire into wall plates, then jumping it out again. You should have the wall trencher made with a small hole for the cable to exit from and go directly to the TV. HDMI is a little sensitive to being "interrupt spliced" together whereas many other technologies are not.

you paucity to call an electrician with a low voltage department/guy.
I worked for an electrician doing low voltage, we didn't do hdmi or s-video, but everything else you described advantage more. (we didn't do it because no one had asked,...yet) Some local shops should be able to do it.
They will have create the lamina. We could create almost any combination of coax, Ethernet, cable, audio, speaker, etc you could want. I'm sure s video and hdmi is at too.

Cheap way to utilize existing wall-embedded surround speakers with my laptop or audio player?
Jun 25, 2008 by Ozgur | Posted in Home Theater
Hi,
Please interesting the most cost effective way to utilize existing wall-embedded surround speakers with my laptop or audio player for a non-audiophile?
I by a hair's breadth moved to an apartment and there are 2 speakers in each 3 rooms, and in the living room, there is a wall plate with 4 banana plugs (looks scrupulously like this http://homeavcables.com/pc-g2407-epc.html but with only 4 sets of red and black things.)
I don't even have a TV. I impartial want to be able to utilize these to get high volume. When I asked at a electronics shop for cables to join my laptop to these, they showed me $150 Home Theather systems with many controls. I just need a basic amplifier, subwoofer and adapter cables (if possible I could use my PC's subwoofer).
Can you recommend me what I should buy?
Regards,
Ozgur
Hi,
(In fact, this is the asker again.
I found my answer elsewhere and wanted to share.
Yahoo should allow to reply to yourself.
I had to enter through another account.)
I was gifted to connect my PC subwoofer to (unpowered) speakers embedded to the wall. My PC subwoofer had RCA connection to my PC speakers. So I bought part integer 42-2449 from radioshack (you can search number at radioshack.com), i.e. 12-Ft. RCA-Plug-to-Lugs Speaker Radio. (42-2457 -24-Ft. 18-Gauge Speaker Cable with RCA Plug- would also work with banana plugs, but lugs up better than tinned wire), however I learned that lower Gauge is better. Though I didn't have any problems, even at the highest power my PC speakers supplied power that wouldn't shrink the 24 gauge cable.
The volume was good. (Higher would disturb next apartment). So I found a $ 50 discovery. Actually for my purposes better than buying that $100 amplifier, since I wouldn't have a subwoofer in that happening...
Another solution is to get the subwoofer from craigslist for less than $50. So that you still have your PC speakers in use with your PC.
