Artisan mother-daughter duo make themselves at home Minneapolis Star Tribune

The last however Sara Langworthy lived with her mother was during high school.

"I left home at 18; I was very self-governing," she said.

But life happens, and its plot twists recently brought the two women back together under one roof. Langworthy got divorced, and her originator died, leaving her mother, Alice Langworthy, to cope with their hobby farm near Rochester, Minn.

"She was all alone on the acreage," said Sara, the middle of three sisters and one of two living in the Twin Cities. Together they decided that Alice would move in with Sara and her teenage son.

That resolve had a profound impact on both women's lives. They're very different people: "I'm extroverted; she's introverted," Sara said. But they dispensation several traits that make them compatible housemates. Both are artists, although Sara's medium is fiber and her mother's is ceramics. Both are gardeners, but where Sara focuses on flowers, Alice grows vegetables. And both like to pay out time in the kitchen. "We cook and eat a lot," Sara said with a laugh. "We have very be like styles."

In 2x6 wood framing how many nails should the wall studs have to fasten to the plates when toe nailed?

I would as likely as not use 5 - 6 nails when toe-nailing. another option for added strength would be to cut "scrap stud billet" (2X6) to fit the 16 inch gap (meaning cut them to fit snugly between the every other stud). Lay these on the floor and/or at the top of the wall and agonize the studs into these. Allows straight nailing, and gives the stud something to attach. Far stronger - placing in every other gap allows you to right away two studs into the same board (each end). Use only if you can spare the scrap wood. I've even used short pieces and nailed only one stud to it. Tolerable luck

Almost always 3 nails per end will be sufficiant, Some framers use 5...3 on one side of the stud and two on the other.( if you use 5, put two of them on the same side). Hope this answers your question..

I would possibly use 5 - 6 nails when toe-nailing. another option for added strength would be to cut "scrap stud gaming-table" (2X6) to fit the 16 inch gap (meaning cut them to fit snugly between the every other stud). I've even used short pieces and nailed only one stud to it. Large luck

To toe be right a 2x6 there should be two 10d minimum nails per side, for a total of four toe nails. I prefer to use 16d nails though.

4 nails 2 each side

Does anyone know where i can buy a wall mounted plate stacker, London?

I am infuriating to find a wall mounted wood, preferably pine,
plate stacker, and can't find one anywhere. I have done the usual suspects, M&S, Debenhams, John Lewis who habituated to to do them but do't now, somewhere in London is best, though anywhere on line even. I have looked on web but it comes up with a lot of different stuff, none of which is useful,
I can find chrome but not wood, anyone remember?
doesn't look like they do them.

Wall plates and knotty pine wall paneling?

I am stuck on which color wallplates to use in my dining and living area. Both rooms have knotty pine wall paneling and hardwood floors. The ceiling is white and the chandeliers are stainless and gold. I have narrowed it down to 4 colors; white, wood, gold or bronze. Which color do you recommend with the knotty pine. See links below and voter Thanks

use the wood ones... or u can try the bronze & c.. i don't reckon u want the eye to go to the plates so less brightness as in white or gold would b not recommended. NOW if u'r adding lots of spotless & gold IN the room... then u could get away w/ it but personally i wouldn't do it so that way everyone's eye would b for the decor not the plates.

trust that helps.
